Because OMC produced multiple key variations for their vintage lines (such as the KF-77 or KF-78), you should verify your hardware before ordering Check the Ignition Switch Barrel: Look closely at the face or the side of the push-in barrel where you insert the key. Vintage OMC control boxes and in-dash switches usually have the precise two-digit key number (e.g., 79) stamped directly into the metal or plastic casing. Avoid the "96 Series" Trap: Be aware that OMC later released a separate, modern "96 Series" #79 key (Part #0127595) for 1996 and newer engines featuring push-to-choke switches. If your boat or motor was built after 1995, the vintage 0501594 key will not fit, and you will need the modern 96 Series #79 Key instead.
