Evo X 2.0L Charge air leaves the turbo hot, and hot air is thin air, so the intercooler is what decides how much of the boost on the gauge actually r eaches the cylinders. The factory core does a reasonable job until you start asking for back-to-back pulls or sit in traffic on a hot day, at which point it heat soaks and the tune quietly pulls timing to protect the engine. A larger core holds its intake temperatures for longer, which shows up as consistency rather than a single big number.
