I have a recurring dream in which I dive underwater and begin swimming. I breast-stroke for a time, or sometimes I sink to the bottom and look up towards the surface. I wait for my lungs to catch fire, but it never happens. In that moment, I realize I'm dreaming and take the most exquisite full breath of air. I feel my chest expand in the real world, serotonin and dopamine swirl through my bloodstream, and slowly I exhale. I watch as bubbles slowly float upwards. Ah, it feels good to be alive in this body. Oil ink monotype on Legion Stonehenge 250gsm paper, mounted across two wood panels (diptych). Signed by the artist on the back of the panels. Show more
