A piping plover parent checks on their four eggs, from which tiny little cottonball-like chicks will soon emerge. I was watching these adult plovers for a long time on the beach be fore I noticed the eggs. I was surprised to see them out in open sand, but at least they were within the roped off area carefully set up by Nantucket's conservation organizations. Show more
