Welcome to the Detroit Dye House. Beautiful things are created here. Our home is yours. Where: 1418 Michigan Ave., Detroit, MI 48216 Standard Bottle Dye: Traditional mixed liquid dyes in bottles. Great for all ages and levels! Ice Dye: A technique that uses ice and powder to create a vibrant watercolor effect, with powdery bursts. An unpredictable effect! Not appropriate for children, this option is for adults 18+ only & safety masks are worn for a portion of the class. Don't yet know when you would like to come take a class? Here’s How it Works: Each reservation is 60-minutes long. Please arrive 15 minutes early to take full advantage of your 1-hour time slot. A 15-minute grace period for clean up will also be provided at the end of each class. All booked groups are situated separately. What to Dye: Each participant will make three things: two to keep, and one to give back to the community. The class includes transforming a tote bag, and your choice of bamboo socks, unisex tee, or a signature pashmina, or upgrade to a fashion item from our blanks room. Your tie-dye masterpieces will be rinsed and washed by the dye-tender and ready for pick up in 2 business days. Shipping is available at an additional cost. What to wear: Tie dye is as messy as you make it, please dress with this in mind* We will provide all guests with aprons and gloves. *dye/stain are synonyms. Consider yourself warned, the art of making tie-dye is a relentless lesson in control…you have none! All Classes are BYOB: There’s space to bring in drinks to enjoy while you create. We encourage it! Cancellation & Tardiness Policy: If you need to cancel your class, we do ask for a week’s notice for a full refund. After a week, we cannot offer you a refund but we would be more than happy to reschedule you for a different time. We do have multiple classes booked in a day and cannot hold the space if you are more than fifteen minutes late, as we cannot impede on other classes’ time. We would, however, love to reschedule you for a time that works better, please call us at 248.310.8579 if you are running late. Unfortunately, if you are more than fifteen minutes late for your booked time without a phone call to reschedule you will be considered a no call/no show, and we cannot offer a refund. We require all guests who are sick or have recently had close contact with a person with COVID-19 to stay home. Please contact us in this instance and we will work with you to reschedule your class for a later date.
