Catherine Lucky Chang’s new series of etchings on handmade abaca paper is abstract, gestural, and emotive. Intentionally printed to emphasize the translucency of the paper, the wor k honors both image and support equally. The repetition inherent in the printing process evokes a sense of ritual, marking time through carved gestures and ink impressions on sheets of abaca in varying tones.
