Striking Tassie cameo ring depicting Eyre Coote c.1780. Original highly domed glass and high carat gold shank. Recorded in the James Tassie archives No.14166. Cameo 3.1 by 2.4 cm. Lieutenant-General Sir Eyre Coote, KB (1726 – 1783) was an Anglo-Irish military officer and politician best known for his many years of service with the British Army in India. His victory at the Battle of Wandiwash is considered a decisive turning point in the struggle for control in India between Britain and France.
