Just like the body follows the head, so too Yisrael follows its king. When the kings of Yisrael were yareh chet, all were careful to keep the mitzvos properly. The nation dwelled tranquilly on its land and overcame all enemies. Sefer Melachim introduces us to Shlomo Hamelech, the wisest of men, who brought Shamayim and Eretz together with the building of the Beis Hamikdash. The day he cosecrated the Bayis could have been the day that evil disappeared from the world. However, he married Pharaoh's daughter, and the angel Gavriel descended and drove a stake in the sea which would later become the city of Rome; the nation that would destroy the second Bayis. Shir Hashirim metaphorically refers to Klal Yisrael as "yonassi", my dove. The yonah has a unique feature, remaining forever faithful to its mate, and bonds for life. This is Yisrael, whose faithfulness to Hashem - their mate for life, defines them, and will never wed another. In Mitzrayim, Hashem called Yisrael "His eldest son." This title caused Yisrael to soar to awesome spiritual heights, even while they were steeped in the impurity of Mitzrayim. This spiritual ascent remains with them always and is their mission to live and maintain, as the sons of the king. It is this level that we can glimpse in Melachim I, as Malchus Beis Dovid climbed to its pinnacle with the building of the Beis Hamikdash. "Rabbi Ginian offers a compendium of commentaries written in a free-flowing style to make the words of the Navi come alive with breadth and depth."Rabbi Zev Leff "A tremendous yashar koach for the gevaldic seforim you produced. I have really en- joyed them and learned a lot from them."Rabbi Daniel Estreicher "On one hand, his blend of meforshim written as a running commentary of the pe- sukim reads like a story. Yet, on closer examination, we gain great insights into the events that occurred and what we as members of Klal Yisrael are to learn 'l'doros,' for generations to come."Rabbi Paysach J.
