Combined with reduced thickness, this provides excellent in-flight control. The straight rocker line ensures smooth acceleration, while the bevelled rails reduce drag on touchdowns and enable more aggressive, committed turns. A slightly flatter nose improves both control and pumping efficiency, while the tapered nose and tail enhance manoeuverability and help avoid unwanted contact with the water during carves. The rear step and kicktail free up water flow and boost pumping amplitude. Finally, the deck has been widened and reshaped slightly to improve foot placement and overall stability. Compared to the Free Downwind, the Free Surf is a nimbler board thanks to its tapered nose and bottom outline, reduced thickness, and balanced foot pressure.
