F6F-3 White 9/BuNo 40090, Lt. William C. Mosley, VF-1, USS Yorktown, June 1944 LT William C. Moseley, A-V(N), USNR, flying an F6F, was struck over Chichi Jima airfield by antiaircr aft fire. He was seen to parachute from his plane. A liferaft was dropped close to LT Moseley, but he was observed to disappear beneath the surface of the water without reaching the liferaft.
