There are many benefits in using fabric pots over traditional styles of pot; Air Pruning Fabric pots promote both horizontal and vertical root growth, however unlike traditional plastic pots, they act as a "air pruner" once the roots have reached the wall. When the root is "pot bound," it effectively stops growing and won't go around and around inside the pot. Instead, the plants concentrate their energy on developing new feeder roots, resulting in a robust, thick root system. Root Zone Aeration Fabric pots enable air to flow freely from the outside through the pot wall and into the root zone. Roots are able to breathe and healthy microorganisms can flourish because oxygen can enter the root zone from all directions. Plastic and clay do not absorb heat well in direct sunshine, which heats the plant's root ball and makes it sweat and feel stressed. Instead, similar to how evaporative cooling cools a building, the fabric's breathability efficiently cools the root ball.
