Fake Empire is not perfect. It's faulty, flawed and defective. It celebrates the fact that it's crude, dirty and damaged goods—its a bit of a punk. When making Fake Empire font, I was reading George Orwell's 1984 novel about a dystopian future (actually, it was an audiobook). At the same time, Chump was president of the USA. It was impossible not to think that we were living in that dystopian future. The comparisons were astonishing. Media manipulation, authoritarianism, truth, reality, surveillance and populism. Rant over, back to the Fake Empire font—Using nothing more than paper, glue and scissors, I've stripped it back to the basics—getting my hands dirty in the process. The font is highly detailed and is best suited for headlines and display.
