Unheated Tanzanite shows its natural range of colors—typically a mix of violet, blue, and burgundy tones. These untreated stones are less common and retain the original appearance as found in the ground, without heat enhancement. Tanzanite is a variety of zoisite found only in the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania.
