Then one day, walking with Eva, I noticed a flock of birds above the road. That was the trigger. Birds move at speeds that dwarf most mammals. I started imagining a Porsche 911 alongside scarlet ibises on the coastlines of Argentina — birds I first discovered in a photograph by Jonathan Jagot. I was struck by the lines and shapes of their beaks and wings. Something in them echoed automotive design. To capture that speed in flight, I painted a Porsche 911 from the side — chasing nature, or racing alongside it. I hope this story resonates with someone.
