An impressionist painting with a farm and a blossoming tree. Oil on panel. Signed. Louis Zelig (1922 – 1993) probably painted this small painting al fresco, while walking through the fields on a clear Spring day. The painting is surface cleaned and comes with a complementary, well-suited vintage wooden/gilded frame. Both painting and frame may show some age-related wear and tear, which largely contributes to their charm. The best way to see this is through the photos, so study them because they form the description. Size: 23 x 20 cm About the artist: Zelig studied painting in Budapest and Bucharest. He came to Sweden in 1945 after spending time in various German concentration camps from 1942, including Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Bergen-Belsen. After arriving in Sweden, he studied at the Scanian School of Painting in Malmö. He exhibited in several Swedish cities, including Kristianstad, Trollhättan, Malmö and Ystad, and he participated in group exhibitions at Göteborgsmässan and S:t Eriksmässan in Stockholm. Among his public works is a major fresco painting in Värnamo. His art consists of decorative geometric compositions. Zelig is represented at the Trelleborg Museum.
