Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's artistic creations were indistinguishable from his legendary life. Spanning just over a decade, his career coincided with two significant developments i n late nineteenth-century Paris: the emergence of modern printmaking and the flourishing of nightlife culture. Lautrec's posters transformed Montmartre entertainers into celebrated figures, elevating the conventional advertising lithograph to the realm of fine art. Through his paintings depicting dance hall performers and prostitutes, he captured their personal stories and displayed a humanistic perspective that unveiled the underlying melancholy and humor concealed behind layers of rice powder and gaslights. Sadly, Lautrec met a tragic fate, passing away at the early age of 36 in Albi, France. These lovely prints are framed, professionally matted, and behind glass. Sourced from a family estate.
