Puffy eyes are a common issue, and are usually the result of a buildup of fluid in the surrounding eye tissue. In most cases, puffy eyes are triggered by a salt imbalance in the body. Consuming too much salt can cause water retention, which may lead to puffiness in the eyes. Stress, dehydration and some medications can also contribute to an increase in salt levels, as well as a lack of sleep or seasonal allergies. Peppermint Essential Oil is considered to be a natural astringent. This extract is believed to constrict the skin and underlying blood vessels which results in skin appearing more taut.
