Live Aid was a benefit concert held in London and Philadelphia on July 13, 1985. The event grew out of the Band Aid single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" released in late 1984. Tha t song featured many of the UK's top pop stars and was organized by Bob Geldof of Boomtown Rats and Midge Ure, then of Ultravox. Geldof wore a "Feed The World" shirt during the songs recording. The song inspired a benefit song by American artists in early 1985.
