This squishy felt comes from a Spanish cooperative with an animal welfare certificate and it's so interesting to know the story behind this amazing yarn. Merino and Entrefina sheep are raised in the meadow lands of Extremadura and Ciudad Real Spanish areas. Every spring they are carefully shorn to face the long and ancient journey of transhumance, through hills and glens with centuries of history, towards the northern areas of Spain. They will spend the strongest months of heat in the summer in a cooler place, richer in natural pastures. Once the summer is over, the sheep will make the same trip to their place of origin, where they will spend the entire winter until the following spring. The great power of adaptation to weather conditions in these sheep breeds makes them produce soft, fine and resistant high quality wool. This felt yarn can be washed, but we recommend hand washing with cold water and air drying, so that the interior wool can dry completely.
