Felted Coat

This coat was felted from carded wool, with the fleece sourced in Nūhaka. I wet felted the main body, building the fabric layer by layer. My friend Zoe carefully cut and sewed the felt into the coat's shape, bringing the handmade fabric to life. I then used my own hand-dyed wool to needle felt mangōpare and other motifs across the surface. The piece was wet felted again to bring the fibres together, creating a rich, textured finish. A true labour of love - thoughtfully made, full of texture, character, and so much fun to create. This coat is a one off. OS - Model is size 10. Made in Aotearoa. Show more
