Fennel, scientifically known as Foeniculum vulgare, is a fragrant edible herb known for its soft feathery leaves and fresh anise-like aroma. It is commonly used for cooking, garnishing, salads, soups, seafood dishes and home herb gardens. Fennel grows best in a bright, airy location with enough sunlight and well-draining media. For home growing, we recommend Chaiyo Universal Substrate as a suitable potting base. If your growing area is more humid, shaded, low-airflow, or the media stays wet for too long, add French Bark Nugget 8–15mm or Perlite to improve drainage and airflow. Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Fennel enjoys consistent moisture, but the media should not stay soggy. Harvesting TipSnip outer leaves when needed for fresh use. Regular light harvesting encourages continued growth. Fennel can also be allowed to flower if you want to collect seeds later. Important NoteThis is a live plant.
