The button fern is a slow-growing species with a dense, trailing habit, making it well-suited for containers, hanging baskets, and terrariums. Size: Height: 20–30 cm (8–12 inches). Spread: 30–40 cm (12–16 inches). Growth Habit: Low-growing, trailing, and spreading via short creeping rhizomes Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate low-light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Overwatering can cause root rot. Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity. Regular misting or placement near a humidity tray is beneficial, especially in dry indoor environments. Temperature: Best grown in temperatures between 16–24°C (60–75°F). Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C (50°F). Soil: Well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil, such as a peat-based or loamy potting mix. Adding perlite or sand can improve drainage. Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter. Pruning: Remove any yellowing or dead fronds to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage new growth. Propagation: Can be propagated by division, carefully separating the rhizomes and planting them in fresh soil.
