Ferocactus are a group of cacti that grow into large barrel shapes but are extremely slow growing. Ferocactus histrix, also known as Acitrón barrel cactus is a species of Ferocactus native to central Mexico. Its blueish- green coloured body is covered in curved radial spines that are both straight and curved giving it an interesting shape. Creamy yellow coloured flowers appear at the top of the plant in late spring when the watering generally increases. These flowers form a beautiful crown around the top of the plant. This plant is drought tolerant and requires well-draining soil and bright, indirect sunlight. It is a slow-growing cactus, but with proper care it can live for many years. Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour, or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available.
