Fever-Tree Light Margarita Mix 750ML is a non-alcoholic, lower-sugar margarita mixer made with Mexican limes, agave, and Spanish sea salt in a 750ml bottle. It earned 87 points from tastings.com in January 2024, and it stands apart from other margarita mixers by incorporating grapefruit oil — an ingredient no major competitor currently includes in their formula. Quick Facts: ABV: Non-Alcoholic | Origin: United States | Style: Light (Lower Sugar) Cocktail Mixer | Brand: Fever-Tree Production & Heritage Fever-Tree was founded in 2004 in London by Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow with the premise that a quality spirit deserves an equally quality mixer. The Light Margarita Mix is built on a base of Mexican lime juice and lime extract, sweetened with Mexican agave rather than high-fructose corn syrup, and seasoned with a touch of Spanish sea salt. What distinguishes it from both Fever-Tree's standard margarita formula and virtually every competitor on the shelf is the addition of grapefruit oil, which introduces a subtle aromatic complexity not found in traditional lime-and-sweetener blends. Tasting Notes Aroma: Lime dominates the nose immediately, bright and assertive. Behind it sits a sharper citric edge and a faint hint of grapefruit peel that differentiates it from straightforward lime-juice aromas. Taste: The entry is pleasantly tart, with lime juice front and center. At mid-palate, agave provides a restrained sweetness that keeps the profile from veering sour, while an unexpected bitter note emerges — likely from the grapefruit oil — adding dimension but also polarizing the flavor. The body is light, reflecting the reduced sugar content, and some tasters may find it thinner than full-calorie alternatives. Finish: The finish is crisp and relatively brief, with lingering citrus tartness and a saline flicker from the sea salt. The bitterness subsides gradually, leaving a clean, dry close. How to Drink Fever-Tree Light Margarita The simplest serve is a two-ingredient margarita: combine two parts tequila (blanco or reposado) with three parts of this mix over ice in a salt-rimmed glass. Beyond the classic margarita, the grapefruit undertone makes it a strong base for a Paloma riff — just add tequila and a splash of sparkling water. It works well in a Skinny Margarita because the lower sugar content means minimal additional sweetener is needed. It also functions in a Ranch Water variation, paired with blanco tequila and Topo Chico, where the lime-grapefruit combination adds more aromatic lift than plain lime juice alone. Best For Hosting a margarita night without the prep time of juicing fresh citrus Calorie-conscious drinkers who want a lighter cocktail without artificial sweeteners Building a home bar with versatile, shelf-stable mixers Outdoor gatherings and warm-weather entertaining where batch cocktails are practical Frequently Asked Questions What does Fever-Tree Light Margarita taste like? It delivers a tart, lime-forward profile with gentle agave sweetness, a touch of sea salt, and a subtle bitter-grapefruit undertone that gives it more complexity than a basic sour mix. How does Fever-Tree Light Margarita compare to Tres Agaves Organic Margarita Mix? Tres Agaves Organic uses organic agave nectar and lime juice without grapefruit oil, producing a rounder, sweeter profile. Fever-Tree Light is noticeably drier and lighter-bodied, with that distinctive grapefruit note and fewer calories per serving. Is Fever-Tree Light Margarita good for quick cocktails at home? Yes — it reduces margarita preparation to a simple two-ingredient pour, requiring only the addition of tequila and ice, which makes it one of the fastest routes to a balanced margarita at home. Where is Fever-Tree Light Margarita made? Fever-Tree is a London-founded brand, and the Light Margarita Mix is produced for the United States market using Mexican limes, Mexican agave, and Spanish sea salt. What foods pair well with Fever-Tree Light Margarita? When mixed with tequila, it pairs naturally with fish tacos, where the citrus cuts through rich batter; ceviche, which mirrors the lime acidity; grilled shrimp with chili-lime seasoning; fresh guacamole and chips for a classic combination; and spicy Thai dishes, where the salt and tartness temper heat. What sizes does Fever-Tree Light Margarita come in? The standard retail size is 750ml, which yields approximately four to five cocktails depending on pour proportions. Is Fever-Tree Light Margarita worth the price? Fever-Tree positions this as a premium mixer, priced above mass-market sour mixes but justified by its natural ingredients — real lime juice, agave, and grapefruit oil — with no artificial sweeteners or high-fructose corn syrup. Why Fever-Tree Light Margarita? The inclusion of grapefruit oil is a genuine differentiator: no other widely available margarita mixer currently uses it, and it introduces an aromatic layer that bridges the gap between a standard margarita and a Paloma. The 87-point rating from tastings.com confirms it performs well in structured evaluation, even as its lighter body and bitter edge may not appeal to drinkers who prefer a sweeter, richer mix. For anyone prioritizing lower sugar without sacrificing real-ingredient quality, this is one of the more thoughtfully formulated options in the premium mixer category.
