Big leaves, slender stems, and a silhouette that feels effortlessly light. Ficus umbellata is loved for its oversized, heart-shaped leaves held on long, delicate stems — giving the plant an almost umbrella-like canopy. Despite its generous foliage, the open spacing between each leaf keeps the form airy and sculptural rather than heavy. Native to tropical Africa and acclimatised to Singapore’s warm, humid climate, it makes a beautiful statement piece for interiors. As it grows, its simple trunk and broad canopy become increasingly tree-like, bringing softness and a little drama into a space without feeling overly lush. Pet Safety 🐾This plant is toxic to pets when ingested. Fun Fact! The name umbellata refers to its umbrella-like growth habit. Its unusually large leaves have made Ficus umbellata especially popular in Japanese and Korean interiors, where a single plant can create a strong botanical statement without needing dense foliage.
