This three day camp will introduce handlers and their gundogs to the world of British shooting, the package offers a full 'field to fork' picture of what happens before, during and after a shoot day. The weekend is designed for those who want to deepen their understanding of working gundogs, the wider shoot environment, and the journey of game from field to plate. It connects training, fieldwork and food in a way that builds knowledge, respect for the process, and appreciation for the roles of our working gundogs. Our From Field to Fork Weekend Camp, led by Helen, Chris and Lynsey, is suitable for… All breeds of gundog, including retrievers, spaniels and HPRs, plus any crossbreeds or non-gundog breeds that will be worked on a shoot. Dogs which have already been introduced to shot Those looking to work their dogs in the field, who are new to the world of field sports Those who think their gundog is ready to work on a shoot (beating, picking up, or rough shooting) but would like some experience in a similar environment before entering a formal setting. Handlers looking to take their Kennel Club Working Gundog Certificate on Game. Our From Field to Fork Weekend Camp will cover... On Friday, participants will visit the pheasant pen and learn what is involved in rearing birds. This will be followed by a talk covering gun safety and what happens on a shoot day, including roles, expectations and etiquette. Training will focus on hunting skills, shoot preparation and an introduction to dogging in, helping handlers understand how these skills fit into a real working day. Saturday will be a Group Shoot Day*. This gives participants the opportunity to see how the training skills come together in practice and to observe the flow and structure of a working shoot. On Sunday, the focus shifts from the field to the kitchen.
