FIGURES is a platform for slow photography with FIG001 being our first book publication, after changing our name from Safelight Paper and 2 published magazines. FIG001 - Borders and Boundaries is an invitation to reconsider political lines, social constructs, emotional walls, relationships, etc—not as fixed or final, but as dynamic and fluid. For in every border there is potential for crossing, for transformation, for change. This publication asks us to reconsider what it means to be on either side of a line and how those lines shape our existence. The terms Borders and Boundaries, so readily understood, are paradoxical: they define what is separate, but their very existence suggests something shared. After all, they exists only in relation to what lies on either side.
