Brown, John. Marjorie Fleming: A Sketch Being the Paper Entitled Pet Marjorie. A Story of Child Life Fifty Years Ago. Edinburgh: David Douglas, 1885. Six plates (incl. frontis.) by Warwick Brookes [1808-1882]. Bound in russet brown morocco with a Douglas Cockerell-esque Arts & Crafts design of gilt rules, roundels, and ivy leaves in each corner. Title in gilt to front cover. Gilt ruled compartments to spine; no lettering. Very similar design to rear cover, but with roundels in blind. Gilt-ruled turn-ins with dark green endpapers in the style of the period. All edges gilt. Measures approx. 8.75" x 11". Rubbing to edges with darkening to gilt, and some staining--though some appears to be naturally occurring in the leather itself. Light foxing to pages. Show more
