Each plate is a 17.2cm round in white fine bone china, side-plate sized, with a scalloped red rim and hand-painted roses and green sprigs. It holds a side of banchan, a slice of ca ke, or a pastry, and stacks for storage.Fine Rose is Hankook's collaboration with Sienne, a Seoul fashion label. It takes the imperial rose — the 1968 pattern that made Hankook's name — and reworks it in the vintage, romantic mood Sienne is known for. Each plate is hand-painted, so the roses and sprigs vary from one to the next. Brush marks, a little pooling in the glaze, and the occasional dark fleck — iron in the clay surfacing during firing — are part of how it's made, not flaws. Like the rest of the Fine Rose line, it's tested lead- and cadmium-free by KICET, the Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology. Show more
