The vase has a round belly, a flared scalloped lip, and a single red loop handle, in white fine bone china. The roses, the green sprig running around the neck, and the red rim are all hand-painted, so the linework shifts from piece to piece. It stands 20cm tall and holds 1.6 litres — room for a loose armful of stems. It arrives in Sienne's "One Fine Morning" gift box.Fine Rose is Hankook's collaboration with Sienne, a Seoul fashion label. It takes the imperial rose — the 1968 pattern that made Hankook's name — and reworks it in the vintage, romantic mood Sienne is known for. Each piece is hand-painted, so the roses and linework vary from one to the next. Brush marks, a little pooling in the glaze, and the occasional dark fleck — iron in the clay surfacing during firing — are part of how it's made, not flaws. Like the rest of the Fine Rose line, it's tested lead- and cadmium-free by KICET, the Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology.
