FineDam™ is a light-cured liquid dam formulated as a resin barrier for isolating gingival tissue adjacent to teeth during tooth whitening procedures. According to SPIDENT's Instructions for Use, the material is applied along the gingiva in a barrier approximately 4–6 mm wide and 1.5–2 mm thick. The barrier is then light cured for 20 seconds using a scanning motion before the whitening material is applied. After the whitening procedure is completed and the whitening material has been thoroughly removed, the cured FineDam™ barrier can be lifted from the tooth surface using an explorer or instrument. Remaining interproximal material can be removed with an explorer and/or floss. SPIDENT Whitening Isolation Workflow: 1. Place self-supporting plastic cheek retractors and thoroughly rinse and air dry the teeth. 2. Apply FineDam™ along the gingiva in a 4–6 mm wide barrier approximately 1.5–2 mm thick. 3. Light cure for 20 seconds using a scanning motion. 4. Apply the whitening material according to its manufacturer's instructions. 5. After whitening, remove the whitening material and lift away the cured FineDam™ barrier.
