Surface-mounted drop-down smoke seal for fire doors, designed as a practical retrofit solution where the gap beneath the door needs to be reduced for smoke control. This fire door threshold seal mounts to the face of the door, so no routing or rebating is required. When the door closes, a plunger mechanism lowers the rubber sealing gasket towards the floor. When the door opens, the seal retracts. When a drop-down threshold seal may be suitable where the gap beneath a fire door is excessive where smoke control is required as part of the door assembly for retrofit remedial work where routing or rebating is not practical where a surface-mounted solution is preferred Key features surface-mounted drop-down smoke seal aluminium body with rubber sealing gasket maximum drop: 14mm suitable for gaps up to approximately 14mm available in 830mm and 930mm lengths can be trimmed by up to approximately 150mm to suit the door width suitable for push or pull side installation supplied with fixing screws How the seal works As the door closes, the plunger contacts the frame and activates the drop-down mechanism, lowering the gasket towards the floor to help restrict smoke, draughts and air movement beneath the door. The seal retracts again when the door is opened. Important Threshold seals should be selected to suit the door design, gap size and required performance.
