In many cities across Canada, it is required by law that any building that requires a fire safety plan should store the plan in a secure fire plan box. In nearly all other jurisdic tions it is highly recommended by local fire departments. The fire safety plan box provides a central location to store a copy of the fire safety plan, emergency contact phone numbers, Chief Warden identification (hat, vest, etc), Fire Warden status report checklists, etc. This steel box can be locked with a padlock (provided) which allows easy access if building staff are on hand, or can be easily cut open by the fire department off hours or for buildings without 24/7 management representation. A spare lock is provided that should be stored inside the box, so the fire department can lock the box when they leave the scene.
