This helps prevent soot, high flames, and uneven burning. Burn Until Wax Pool Reaches Edge. For the first burn, let the candle melt to the edges of the container (about 1–3 hours). This prevents tunneling and helps the candle burn evenly. Do Not Burn for More Than 4 Hours at a Time. Extinguish the flame, let it cool, trim the wick, and relight if needed.
