Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey 750ML is a cinnamon-flavored whiskey bottled at 33% ABV (66 proof) in a 750ml bottle, built on a base of Canadian whisky. Awarded 87 points by the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago, it remains one of the most recognizable flavored whiskey expressions on the market, distinguished by its use of natural cassia bark oil rather than synthetic cinnamon flavoring.Quick Facts: ABV: 33% | Origin: Canada / Louisville, Kentucky, USA | Cinnamon Flavored Whiskey | Producer: Sazerac CompanyProduction & HeritageFireball traces its origins to a formula developed by Seagram in Canada during the mid-1980s. The base spirit is a blend of aged Canadian rye and corn whiskies, distilled and matured in oak casks in Canada before being shipped to the Sazerac Company's facility in Louisville, Kentucky for finishing. There, natural cinnamon oil—steam-distilled from cassia bark sourced primarily from Sri Lanka and Indonesia—is blended in along with sugar and glycerin. The use of cassia bark rather than Ceylon cinnamon gives Fireball its signature aggressive, pungent heat with clove-like phenolic undertones that separate it from milder cinnamon spirits.Tasting NotesAroma: Intense sweet cinnamon hits immediately, recalling cinnamon candy and warm baking spices. A subtle sour cinnamon note sits behind the initial wave, adding dimension beyond a single-note sugar rush.Taste: The entry is a direct hit of sweet cinnamon that quickly floods the palate. A spicy burn builds steadily through the mid-palate, revealing layers of brown sugar, ground cinnamon bark, and a faint vanilla undertone. The mouthfeel is syrupy and coating, carrying the flavors across the tongue with a confectionery-like richness.Finish: The cinnamon intensity tapers gradually rather than dropping off abruptly, leaving a refreshing, almost menthol-like coolness at the back of the throat. It lingers at moderate length, with residual warmth from the cassia spice. How to Drink FireballFireball is most commonly served as a chilled shot straight from the freezer, where the cold temperature tempers the sweetness and sharpens the cinnamon bite. Beyond shots, it works as a versatile cocktail modifier. An Angry Ball—Fireball dropped into a pint of hard cider—plays the cinnamon against tart apple for an easy crowd-pleaser. A Cinnamon Old Fashioned substitutes Fireball for the sugar cube and bitters in a traditional Old Fashioned, producing a spiced variation that needs only bourbon and an orange twist. A Fireball Apple Pie, mixing Fireball with fresh apple juice and a splash of vanilla vodka over ice, leans into the brown sugar and baking-spice character of the base spirit.Best For Game-day gatherings where chilled shots keep the energy high Fall and winter cocktail experimentation with apple cider, hot chocolate, or eggnog Stocking a home bar with a go-to flavored whiskey for mixed drinks Tailgate parties and casual celebrations where ease of serve matters Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does Fireball taste like? Fireball delivers bold sweet cinnamon up front with a building spicy burn, notes of brown sugar and vanilla, and a syrupy texture that coats the palate. The finish cools to an almost menthol-like sensation before fading. How does Fireball compare to Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire? Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire is bottled at 70 proof (35% ABV) compared to Fireball's 66 proof, and it uses Tennessee whiskey as its base rather than Canadian whisky, giving it a slightly more pronounced oak and charcoal backbone. Fireball tends to lean sweeter and more candy-like, while Tennessee Fire delivers a more whiskey-forward profile with restrained cinnamon. Is Fireball good for cocktails? Fireball works well in cocktails that benefit from a cinnamon-sugar backbone, particularly drinks built around apple cider, cola, or cream-based mixers. Its lower proof and inherent sweetness mean it functions more like a liqueur than a straight whiskey in mixed drinks.Where is Fireball made? The base Canadian whisky—a blend of rye and corn whiskies—is distilled and aged in oak casks in Canada. It is then shipped to the Sazerac Company's facility in Louisville, Kentucky, where natural cassia bark oil, sugar, and glycerin are added to create the finished product. What foods pair well with Fireball? Apple-based desserts like warm apple crisp mirror the cinnamon-and-fruit combination naturally. Dark chocolate truffles complement the brown sugar sweetness without clashing with the spice. Smoked pork or barbecue ribs echo the sweet-heat profile. Pumpkin pie and pecan pie both align with the baking-spice character. Sharp cheddar cheese provides a savory counterpoint to the sugar content. What sizes does Fireball come in? Fireball is widely available in 50ml, 200ml, 375ml, 750ml, 1L, and 1.75L formats, making it one of the most broadly distributed flavored whiskeys by package variety. Is Fireball worth the price? Fireball positions squarely as a value-tier flavored whiskey, priced accessibly within the cinnamon whiskey category. For its intended purpose—shots, simple mixed drinks, and party pours—it delivers consistent flavor at a competitive price point relative to alternatives like Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire. Why Fireball? What separates Fireball from the crowded field of cinnamon spirits is the cassia bark oil at its core. Rather than relying on synthetic cinnamon flavoring, the production process uses steam-distilled oil from Indonesian and Sri Lankan cassia bark, which delivers a more complex, pungent heat with phenolic depth that true cinnamon cannot match. Its 87-point rating from the Beverage Testing Institute and a Silver Medal from the International Review of Spirits confirm that the liquid performs above expectations for its category and price tier. For a flavored whiskey that has become a cultural fixture, the underlying production is more thoughtful than its reputation might suggest.
