I've always been obsessed with fireworks packaging – it's some of the most colorful, fun graphics you'll find anywhere. That heavy halftone, slightly off-register printing is just perfectly imperfect. Growing up, I'd see those stands every Fourth of July and beg my parents to buy something dangerous to light off. When it comes to fireworks brands, nobody's more iconic than “Black Cat”! We all know the sleek updated Black Cat logo, but their vintage vampire kitten version? That thing is pure magic! When we reached out to them about this collab, I wasn't sure they'd be down to use their old-school logo. But they know their fanbase and we're all about it! They sent us their vintage art files – Black Cat, Home Run, Giraffe, Zebra, Bulldog – the whole archive! Fank then dove deep into the archives and built this incredible vintage pattern of their old fireworks packaging. The way he preserved the authentic halftone texture while adapting it for ski production is pure artistry. He added a translucent effect that lets your eye flip between seeing the raw materials of the ski’s construction and these vintage fireworks labels – it's like looking through time. That bright yellow topsheet is loud and badass! This base might be one of my favorite bases we’ve ever done. The screaming cat with an explosion behind it, is going to look nuts flying through the air. This is a true limited run – once they're gone, they're gone. No reprints, no do-overs. These vintage finds don't come around twice, and access to Black Cat's archive was a one-time deal. Get yours before it’s lights out for this new Hotshot ski.
