The Firefly self-illuminating prismatic compass utilises the Plastimo IRIS 50 prismatic magnetic compass sealed cell. It is fitted with a reliable Trigalight® light source, this self-illuminating compass is a highly effective tool for night, day & dusk navigation. These 4 micro - trigalights® are fixed securely within the unit to illuminate the graduations on both horizontal and prismatic planes providing sufficient illumination for immediate reading clarity in all light conditions. The compass is suitable for primary or back-up navigation duty of a lightweight construction, with tough protective case, soft bottom cell prevents leaks and bubbles in the liquid. Self-Illuminating, Tritium Light Source The Compass incorporates 4 Gaseous Tritium Light Sources (GTLS) which provide a completely independent means of light generation for back lighting of the navigation dial and prismatic legend. No batteries or charging by ambient light is required. There are no associated moving parts and because the unit is continuously energised, no switch. The Compass lights will remain energised for 10 maintenance-free years, even during extended periods of complete darkness. Safe and Reliable Operation GTLS are non-emissive, sealed sources, installed within tough protective enclosures. Suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -40° to 80°C, they will continue to operate even when under water. Safe for operation in Zone 0 hazardous atmospheres.
