The copper wire weaving that cradles this stone was built around it, not imposed upon it. Every wrap, every coil, every turn of the wire was guided by the shape and energy of the agate itself. The agate sat in Marilyn's studio for a time, living alongside other materials, waiting. When the copper wire came to it, the weaving happened intuitively, wrap by wrap, until the stone was held exactly as it wanted to be held. It was only when the piece was finished that the vision appeared in the lighter places of the stone: a dragonfly, or perhaps an angel, suspended in the pale crackle of the agate's surface.
