First Aid Fire( FAF1- course notes) represent a very useful guide to managing Fire Precautions and determining what equipment is most appropriate to mitigating risk. More than half the accidental fires in workplaces, are controlled and extinguished, prior to the arrival of Fire Services but, in each successful case, there has been planning, preparation and practise for Emergencies. These course notes, abstracted from our Fire Marshall's training course: FAF1: explain the rudiments and the check points necessary to successfully plan for Fire Emergency and Control. It particularly pays attention to the selection and use of portable fire extingishers and technical aspects of dealing with differing fire causes and situations. As in any 'First-aid' situation, Reaction, Response and Recovery are key and where Reaction and Response takes place during the first, few, vital minutes; your success at controlling emergencies will be ten times better. The small, copyright fee charged for these notes is a tiny price for a valuable lesson in Fire Control - which, although published prior to the 2005 Fire Order, remains wholly salient in terms of assisting risk assessment and emergency planning.
