DOSING Pump Bottles A dose consists of 2 pumps of remedy onto the tongue, gums or lips. Can also be given on a piece of food. Most horses love the sweet taste but if your horse is nervous about being dosed, you can put the dose on your finger and dab it on their lips or gums. They do not need to swallow the dose, it just has to come into contact with their tongue or gums. Dose: Give 2 pumps into the mouth or on a treat that wont absorb it like carrot or apple every half hour for 4 doses as a loading dose and then 3 times a day, reducing doses on improvement. Jerry Cans Feed – tip ½ capful (12ml), or ½ pump on feed 2 times a day, OR syringe 5ml into the mouth 3 times a day. * Note - our Pump bottles are the most popular size for First Aid Plus because depending on the circumstances a stressed horse may not eat or drink, so dosing needs to be into the mouth.
