Humpback Whale Niue This is the first time I encountered this mother humpback whale with her newborn. I was on a boat off the Island of Niue when I spotted her spout in the distanc e. I hurried over and jumped into the water to witness the mother lifting her calf to the surface for one of its first breaths. I spent the rest of my time on Niue following these two around.
