First Crochet SweaterInstructor: Valerie Henderson This fun pattern is a great introduction to creating garments using crochet! Students will take classic stitches to the next level using an origami-like technique to create a cozy cardigan for a little one. All students will make the 18-month-old size of the Squared Up Baby Jacket pattern. This pattern is ideal for self-striping yarns which leave very few ends to weave, take the guess work out of color placement, and lead to a brilliant and fun finished project! Techniques taught include the Magic Ring, how to get gauge, joining techniques, and basic modifications including sleeve and body length. Prerequisites: Students should be familiar with the double crochet stitch (US term), chain stitch, and have confidence in reading a pattern. This class is considered Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate level. Materials needed: 2 skeins of Urth Uneek Fingering 3.0mm crochet hook OR hook size required to get gauge Removable Stitch Markers Scissors Darning Needle Squared Up Baby Jacket by Urth Yarns (please bring printed copy to class for note taking purposes) Materials for the class must be bought at The Craftivist.
