🐟 Fish Pepper Seeds – Heirloom, Variegated & Perfect for Seafood Dishes The Fish Pepper is an eye-catching heirloom chili with a rich history and truly unique appearance. Once a secret ingredient in Caribbean and African American seafood recipes, this pepper was reintroduced to gardeners by William Woys Weaver in 1995 and has since become a favorite for its beauty, versatility, and flavor. Fish Pepper plants are incredibly productive and easy to grow, thriving in both gardens and containers. Their striking variegated leaves and multi-colored pods make them just as stunning as they are flavorful. The peppers ripen through an incredible color range: creamy white → light green with dark stripes → orange → and finally deep red-brown. Mild-to-medium in heat (similar to Jalapeño or Cayenne), the Fish Pepper offers a rich, slightly sweet flavor with a subtle seafood-friendly kick. Traditionally used in oyster and crab house sauces across the Northeast, it remains a top choice for seafood lovers, hot sauce makers, and ornamental gardeners alike.
