Fishhook Barrel Cactus (Ferocactus wislizeni) is a bold, slow-growing cactus with a rounded to barrel-shaped form, prominent ribs, and distinctive hooked spines that give it strong architectural character. Easy to grow in full sun with very well-drained soil, it is highly drought tolerant and requires only occasional watering once completely dry. In cultivation it typically reaches approximately 30–90 cm tall and 45–60 cm wide, though older specimens in ideal ground conditions can occasionally grow larger, making it a standout feature in rock gardens and cactus collections.
