This unique fishplate is a mystery I can't find any information on it. While there are similar ones from the 1930s and 1940s, there are no identifying marks to reveal its origin. It appears to have been made using a form press, which suggests that it may not have been mass produced by a company. Surprisingly, there are very few of these plates on the market, and none for sale online. By law, any item brought into the country for resale must have a maker's mark displaying its origin, but this plate has none. It features a clear glaze finish over white clay, with a speckled green and brown texture. The green was applied first, melting into the clear finish while still wet. Later, the brown was splattered on top. It seems this plate was meant for display rather than use, as it is in pristine condition after over thirty years in storage. Its unique nature and potential one-of-a-kind status will make this plate stand out in a plate collection. This fishplate is in mint condition with no cracks, chips, necks, scratches, fleabites, repairs, stains, and has not been modified in any way. It looks like it has never been used.
