Please review our class policies before enrolling. 16 years and older please This is your class if you have you ever said, or thought, “How do I back out of this?” when looking at your knitting! We’ll dissect common knitting errors by diagnosing and fixing them. Time: One 2-hour classesLevel 2 Alpine : fun and easy, no experience necessary Skills you need: Long tail cast on or cable cast on, or preferred cast on method Confidently Knit and Purl Slip, Slip, Knit and Knit two together (will be reviewed) Skills you’ll learn to identify & fix: Practice on: Tinking–undoing a row stitch by stitch Dropped stitches–in garter and stockinette Demonstration/Information on: Extra stitches Unexpected holes Unexpected yarn overs Counting rows in both garter stitch and stockinette will be discussed. Materials: Light colored worsted weight yarn (should be what you do your “preparation” with). We know it is tempting to practice with the "not-so-great-yarn" but we highly recommend that you use a yarn that has the majority wool so that it has some bounce and 'give' to it. US 9 needles (circular or straight is fine) Crochet hook a bit smaller than the knitting needle Stitch markers Removable markers Optional: tapestry needle, scissors Preparation: You will prepare two swatches: don’t cast off. You can slide one set to a stitch holder or use another set of needles. Use either a US 8 or 9 needle (circular or straight). Use light colored worsted weight yarn Swatch 1: Cast on 20 stitches and work 10 rows in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl the next, repeat) Swatch 2: Cast on 20 stitches and work 10 rows in garter stitch (knit every row) Diana Navarra has been knitting since elementary school and loves to say she'd much rather knit than do housework. She is a long-time friend of the shop she has knit lots our samples. She also teaches our Learn to Knit classes and knows what trouble spots students get into :)
