'Flavortop' is a truly exceptional variety, boasting delicious fruits with as much flavour as you'd hope from a cultivar bearing that moniker. A self-fertile fruit tree, you only need the one plant in order to bear a good crop of fruit (which is ready to harvest from the end of summer into early autumn). You can, however, plant another nectarine tree nearby if you want a really bumper yield. Besides eating them fresh, you can use your nectarines in an upside-down cake, roast them in fortified wine and serve with vanilla ice cream, or grill them to go in with a burrata summertime salad. Nectarine trees have been designated by the RHS as one of their Plants for Pollinators, indicating their benefits to pollinating insects like bees and butterflies.
