When I set out to create a piece that embodied the Danish concept of hygge, I started with candles. Whether you light real candles or battery operated ones, a flickering flame is e ssential to hygge. Layered and neutral textures are also typical of the hygge aesthetic, which is what I was trying to accomplish with this palette. The background is a warm olive blended with smoky grays and creamy latte tones. And finally, I knew this piece would need greenery! While it reads especially cozy for winter, the buds and branches make it a beautiful transition piece from season to season.
