Founded in 2010 by childhood friends Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty, Song for the Mute is all about choosing materials carefully. The duo meticulously develops, samples, and selects fab rics in collaboration with artisanal Italian and Japanese mills before patterning their intimate, story-driven collections as seen with the Flight Coat. First introduced in 25.2 ‘Sunflower’, the Flight Coat is a full-length silhouette featuring a high neck with tonal ribbing along the collar. Drawing inspiration from 1940s flight jackets, known for their protective high collars and functional raglan sleeves, this piece reimagines the utilitarian classic in a contemporary, elongated form.
