Gilly’s Floor Polish is a traditional beeswax-based polish designed to nourish, protect, and enhance timber floors. This soft, penetrating wax feeds dry timber while creating a durable surface that buffs to a beautiful natural sheen. Ideal for both new and restored timber flooring, the polish penetrates into the wood fibres to revive tired floorboards and highlight the natural grain. With regular use, it helps protect floors from everyday wear while maintaining their rich, well-cared-for appearance. The traditional wax formula is free from silicone and harsh solvents, making it suitable for homes, workshops, and restoration projects where a natural timber finish is preferred. Use For Raw or newly sanded timber floorboards Restoring worn timber flooring Hardwood and softwood floors Traditional wax floor finishes Home and workshop flooring Application Surface Preparation Ensure the timber is well sanded and smooth. We recommend using a sanding sealer to reduce the amount of wax needed. Apply before waxing. How to Apply Dip a soft, lint-free cloth into the tin and scrape out a small amount. Rub into the timber with pressure in line with the grain. Buff back any excess with a soft, lint-free cloth or buffing pads. Use up to three coats particularly if the timber is very porous, buffing well between coats. Allow up to an hour between coats to allow waxes to sink right in. If using an electric polisher, spread a small amount of wax directly onto the brushes and spread it over the floor with the polisher. Buff back using buffing pads or soft brush fittings. Dry Time Minimum 30 minutes. Ensure the surface is touch dry with no fingerprinting before applying the next coat. Maintenance Depending on wear, as the surface becomes dull or dry. Clean Up Warm, soapy water for hands or cloth. Excess wax on timber; dampen a cloth with mineral turpentine.
